An exploration into calligraphy and handmade lettering. This project is centered around the phrase ‘New Essentials’. An ironic take on what an "Essential" means in the modern day of materialism.

The lettering is made up of a ‘cord’, attached to an iPhone and MacBook, both vital in my daily workflow and surrounded by a collection of my favorite items. These are things I could technically "live without", yet, add value to my life in a utilitarian or emotional way. Running with the theme of ‘essentials’, the design was reverse laser etched onto clear plexiglass – elevating an ordinary object into something much more.
